Alligator Gully

If you want to take some scuba diving photos at Alligator Reef then one prime spot may be Alligator Gully.

Located just 300m west southwest of Alligator Reef this dive site is made up of coral ledges and valleys 10 - 25 feet high providing nooks and crannies to explore.

With corals such as Elkhorn and Brain coral and some fabulous sponges, this quiet and lesser dived site provides numerous opportunities to take those scuba diving photos.

If you want photos of larger marine life then you will not be disappointed as regular visitors to Alligator Gully are snook, grouper and Tarpon, not forgetting some Nurse sharks which frequent the area.

The regulars are also here ready to pose, tangs, snappers, grunts, and parrotfish.

Scuba Videos

One of the attractions of Florida Key scuba diving is that you will be able to take underwater photographs or underwater videos such as the one below. With excellent light and clear waters you will be able to get some excellent shots.

This short video was taken at Alligator Reef and it gives you an idea of what to expect diving off the Florida coast (Press the button second right on the bottom of the video player to see it in full screen)...

A great place to practice my underwater photography.

We were informed this was a quieter dive spot and they right. This allowed us the space and freedom to get some excellent photos with little disturbance.

We saw one of my cousins the Hawksbill Turtle and some very colorful lobsters waiting for their portrait photos!
