Why PADI?

PADI is recognized the world over and your scuba diving certifications at each level will allow you to dive anywhere as your skill level is readily recognized through the PADI system

Open Water Diver Course Requirements

You will need to be in good health, reasonably fit and be comfortable in the water. You must be at least 15 years of age to obtain the full Open Water Diver certification.

Junior Scuba

For those children aged 10-14 years they can achieve the Junior Open Water certification.
Children aged 10 -11 years are allowed to dive providing they are accompanied by a PADI Professional or a parent or guardian who is certified, and they will be restricted to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet).

The Open Water Diver Course outline

Having booked your course at one of the local dive centers your PADI Instructor takes you through the scuba diving basics of learning how to scuba dive.
The course comprises of

practical training with the instructor, and
a knowledge element group sessions or even on line these days with PADI e-learning so you can get a head start on line!

You start to obtain your scuba diving certifications by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean, lake, and reservoir) dives.
The training begins in a pool or pool-like conditions where you learn scuba diving basics and will then progress to the open water (ocean, lake, reservoir, etc.) getting the required knowledge along the way.

Number of Dives - Five Confined Water Dives and Four Open Water Dives
Knowledge Development - Five sessions
Materials You'll Need: PADI Open Water Crew-Pak, PADI Open Water Video or DVD, Log Book.
Equipment - mask, fins, snorkel, tank, regulator, buoyancy compensator, submersible pressure gauge and exposure protection (wet suit/dry suit) as required by the local environment.
