West Palm Beach – Wreck Diving

Nearby to PC1174 and forming part of this reef structure is the Amaryllis, Murphy’s Barge and the Mizpah. Due to the currents in the area this makes for an excellent drift dive where you will be able to see the Mizpah, Amaryllis and PC1174 on the same drift dive.

The patrol boat is but a shell of what it once was and is now home to schooling fish and is covered by colorful marine growth.
During a drift dive across this site you are sure to see purple chromis, sergeant major damselfish, grunts (especially tomtate and porkfish), Spanish hogfish, sharpnose puffers and bluehead wrasse.

Palm Beach Scuba Videos

One of the attractions of Palm Beach scuba diving is that you will be able to take underwater photographs or underwater videos such as the one below. With excellent light and clear waters you will be able to get some excellent shots.

This video was taken at the Mizpah which is close to the patrol boat and it gives you an idea of what to expect with the numerous wrecks around West Palm Beach and what to expect diving off the Florida coast. TerenceTerence’s Log

The patrol boat is part of a group of wrecks so there is plenty for you to see at this dive site. If you are lucky you may get to see the groupers as shown in the video above.

Florida has put a lot of effort into creating these dive sites and you will enjoy the exploring the results of the efforts gone into the artificial reef program and this area of wrecks and lime rock boulders has created a great dive site.
