Jap Rock is located at the north end of Boca Raton public beach which is to the north of Boaca Raton Inlet.

Palm Beach – Reef Diving

This is a hit or miss dive in that it is very close to the beach so you are exposed to the breaking waves so the dive has to be planned to avoid this shortfall.

Whenever you dive this site always wear some skin protection to avoid injuries which can happen if a wave moves you against the rocks.

However the site is very easy to find as the rocks which form this site break above the surface and you will find it suitable for both scuba divers and snorkelers when the conditions permit.

Being in a shallow area the rocks are full of juvenile fish and the corals and sponges are absolutely stunning. The area is swept clean by the strong currents so the view is both clean and spectacular.

Terence’s Log

Jap Rock can be a difficult dive if you get caught by the waves breaking on the rocks but one of the advantages of this site is the clear clean waters and there are plenty of juvenile fish and lobsters to observe in the small rock pools that dominate this rock pile.

I would advise wearing a wetsuit whenever diving this site to avoid abrasions on the rocks.
