West Palm Beach Dive Sites

Flower Gardens is a small reef or ledge located off the coast of Central County just over 4 miles south of Palm Beach Inlet. The dive site is relatively quiet but is very easy to get to by boat.

Palm Beach – Scuba Diving

The sheltered side is quite shallow with average depths in the region of 40 feet getting deeper at South Flower Gardens where the depth is in the region of 70 feet.

The reef has a prolific covering of corals and sponges that sway with the current and is a fantastic sight. With so much coral covering the reef it is an ideal retreat for juvenile fish that keep close to the reef for protection.

The thick coral and dense covering also makes this reef a suitable refuge for spiny lobsters and it is not unusual to find the larger pelagic fish at the deeper parts of this reef.

This reef can be quiet but it can be an excellent reef on which to practice your underwater photography and try out your video camera skills as the shallow waters provide plenty of light bringing out the full colors of this reef.

You can expect to see bluehead wrasse, yellowhead wrasse, tomtates, and plenty of other fish especially juveniles hiding amongst the coral growths.

This is a quiet shallow dive but well worth it when you see how much marine life can be found at this dive site.

There is a mild current here and one of the best opportunities you will have to take underwater photos.
