Double Ledges
Double Ledges
West Palm Beach Dive Sites
Double Ledges can be divided into dive zones north and south with the north dive zone providing you with the biggest possibility and seeing some of the larger marine creatures that swim around the coast of Florida.
Palm Beach – Scuba Diving
Both dive areas are deep dives of up to 87 feet and the ledges are close to the Gulf Stream providing a strong and cleansing current.
North Double Ledges is a drift dive along the two ledges and it is the lower of the two ledges that is the most heavily populated with a vast array of marine life.
The tops of the ledges have soft coral and sponges especially barrel sponges and the underneath have growths of hard corals.
South Double Ledges is also a drift dive and you have the opportunity to see large fish and possibly game fish whilst you can find spiny lobsters hidden amongst the nooks and crannies provided by the ledges.
The complete formation runs north to south and a drift dive starting in the south will carry you past these stunning formations to the northeast with plenty to observe on the way. With holes and cracks and small caves along the ledge formation there is plenty of places for marine life to hide and thrive.
