Blue Fire
Blue Fire
Maimi Dive Sites
The Blue Fire is probably the most southern wreck that any of the Miami dive centers travel to and scuba dive due to its remote location. Then again it’s because of its remote location that this wreck is still in fantastic condition and has accumulated an abundance of marine life since it sank in 1983.
Miami Scuba Diving – Blue Fire
The Blue Fire was a 175 foot passenger freighter and sits upright and fully intact on the sea floor at a depth of 120 feet. The deck winches and other parts of her structure such as radio masts are all intact making this a great wreck to explore.
An ideal dive for nitrox divers who can get 20 – 30 mins bottom time and have the opportunity to explore this wreck which has easy penetration and an abundance of marine life.
Due to its location this wreck dive site is visited by many larger species of fish so fully expect to see jacks, barracuda, jewfish, cobia and many more.
The hull is covered with growth that has fully established itself and you will find marine creatures of all sizes and shapes around this wreck. Spiny lobsters, crustaceans, corals, the hull is alive and full of interesting marine life. There are many underwater photo opportunities at this site which has now been underwater for a long time but remains un-spoilt.
Miami Scuba Diving Videos
One of the attractions of Miami scuba diving is that you will be able to take underwater photographs or underwater videos such as the one below. With excellent light and clear waters you will be able to get some excellent shots.
This video was taken along a Miami wreck trail and it gives you an idea of what to expect with the numerous wrecks around Miami and what to expect diving off the Florida coast. (Press the button second right on the bottom of the video player to see it in full screen)…
Terence’s Log
This is a remote dive site but well worth it. As you would expect at a remote wreck in these depths barracuda stand guard in the current and there are snappers, cobia and other large fish everywhere.
The wreck is full of life and it is a pity that it sits so deep as there is so little time to explore even with nitrox. If you get the opportunity you will love this dive.
