Touchdown Reef
Touchdown Reef
Fort Lauderdale Dive Sites
Touchdown Reef is a popular dive site that managed to get its name from the two buildings you can see on the shoreline that represent goal posts when viewed from the reef.
Fort Lauderdale – Reef Diving
Fort Lauderdale has three reef lines running north to south and Touchdown Reef is located on the second reef line. Here the depth of the water varies from 30 – 45 feet.
The reef compared to others in the area is relatively flat but it has plenty of nooks and crannies for lobsters and crabs to hide. This makes this reef very popular for lobster and spear fishing.
This reef is full of marine life and it is not unusual to come across nurse sharks as well as plenty of grunts, damselfish, sergeant majors, puffer fish and many more.
Fort Lauderdale Scuba Videos
One of the attractions of Fort Lauderdale scuba diving is that you will be able to take underwater photographs or underwater videos such as the one below. The waters are warm and clear so you will be able to get some good shots.

Terence’s Log
You can get some great underwater photography done at this reef providing the currents aren’t too strong. There is plenty of marine life and plenty of colors.
You can also expect to see larger specimens such as nurse sharks. One word of warning though, this reef is also popular for fishing and spearfishing so take extra care when at this reef.
